What is a smart card “Rav Kav”?

A smart card “Rav Kav” is used as an electronic travel card. It is available to every passenger and can be loaded with a sum of money chosen or with free periodic travel arrangements intended for use on all means of public transportation without the need for cash. 

A smart card can be issued at the online smart card “Rav Kav” website (RavKavOnline.co.il) or at the telephone center, *8787, or the card can be issued at one of the “Rav Kav” service centers spread throughout the country.  Below is information about the on the line offices in our operations area:

Personal Smart Card

• First issue only is without payment. 
• Receiving designated discounts according to profile, such as a young person, student, person eligible for national insurance, etc. 
• Possibility of restoring subscribership, including accumulated value balance, in case of theft or loss.  
• The card is valid without limit. 

Anonymous Smart Card

• It does not offer designated specialized discounts and does not allow loading for a periodic subscribership, but only has an accumulated value.
• The subscribership or the accumulated value balance is not protected in case of theft or loss. 

How does this work?

With the smart card “Rav Kav”, it is possible to load a free national monthly arrangement or regional, a daily free arrangement that gives the passenger an unlimited number of trips in the course of a span of time or a required period. An accumulated value travel arrangement comes in sums of 30/50/100/150/200.

What is an accumulated value?

Accumulated value is a travel arrangement that enables the loading of a smart card “Rav Kav” with monetary value in all means of public transportation in Israel and allows paying with it for traveling until the limit of the loaded financial sum is reached. In addition, passengers using this arrangement are eligible for a very large number of trips in exchange for the same amount of money. In other words, every time the card is loaded in accordance with the user’s eligibility, with a monetary value much higher than that paid at the time of validation, the full tariff of the trip will be less than the accumulated value on the card.

**The discount is given when loading the card, following the eligibility of the passenger.
At the time of validation, the tariff for the full trip is reduced from the smart card.

Methods of Loading

A smart card “Rav Kav” can be loaded at the smart card “Rav Kav” online webpage (RavKavOnline.co.il) or at “Rav Kav” service centers spread throughout the country. The location of additional offices of “Rav Kav” can be found on the website at: https://pti.org.il/Charge/Map 

Note, loading a travel arrangement does not constitute validation for a trip; therefore, the trip must be validated each time you get on the bus.

Validating the Card

The validation is done on the bus by the driver.

You must notify the driver prior to validation regarding the destination of the trip and the intention to make payment via the accumulated value travel arrangement.
